Anticipatory Action
Early preparation to protect lives and livelihood
Know the risk and prepare early
El Niño will extend rainfall in Liberia up to November 2026. It will also increase temperatures during the dry season, leading to dry spells, heat stress, and water shortages in Liberia, while heavy rainfall and flooding may still occur in some areas. The Liberia Anticipatory Action Plan for 2026–2027 proposes monitoring seasonal forecasts and agreed risk triggers to guide timely support. Actions may include climate advisories, drought-tolerant seeds, agricultural and water-management guidance, repairs to water points, flood warnings and community preparedness. These measures aim to protect people’s health, livelihoods and essential services. The proposed planning periods are indicative; action should be guided by the latest forecasts and observed conditions. Therefore, we encourage you to follow updates, forecasts, and Alerts from LMS.
